Can't drink & eat too close together is driving me mad!

Recommended Posts

Well, waiting 20-25 minutes between eating & drinking is the most annoying part of the sleeve. I end up setting a timer on my phone to make sure I've waited long enough. I understand that liquid makes the food in the stomach "drain" quicker or move along quicker, but it's totally annoying. It's been 8 weeks, does it get any easier?? I find myself starving as I wait those 20-25 min until I can eat. Please tell me it gets easier[emoji24]

My doctors makes me stop drink 30 minutes prior to eating and 60 minutes after! I feel your pain. I have a constant timer on my phone so I don't get off schedule!

I know many who drink up until they not sure why. AFTER you eat is a really really bad idea. As your first commandment is Protein first. The longer in your belly the better. Keeps you full longer helping you not getting hungry. But I also know many who will take a few 'sips' while eating. But to reiterate...don't drink after

It gets much easier the more you practice doing it.

I wonder if there would be any necessity to wait the 30mins before and after when you have reached your goal weight.

It does come easier with time I don't have a problems with the whole waiting 30 mins before and after. It's the eating part. I'm still on 1/4 of a cup so how can I make that last a half hour.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
