Brittneysue12345 18 Posted March 12, 2016 Hi. I'm 30 and had to have a complete hysterectomy at age 28. 6 months ago I was told to stop my HRT, so Basiclly I'm going thru menopause (I assume). Does this put a damper on weight loss. Will I see weight loss a lot slower? Anyone else know the effects of hormones on surgery? Bohemian 21 Posted March 12, 2016 Wow I'm also 30 and had a complete hysterectomy at age 28. Why did they stop your HRT? I'm having me sleeve done April 29th and also curious about this Sent from my SM-G903W using the BariatricPal App
cherri2082 149 Posted March 12, 2016 I am 59 and had a total at 27. Wait till you are off them for about a month - then go back to the dr - you will want to rip his lungs out. Explain and see how fast he writes you a script!! Sent from my SCH-I545 using the BariatricPal App
Brittneysue12345 18 Posted March 12, 2016 I stopped them about 6 months ago due to increase in bp and the nephrologist said it can contribute to my already really high pressures . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
rking 484 Posted March 12, 2016 I am 50 and have been on hormones about 4 years. I did not have to stop them. I would have literally begged on my knees not to stop them had I needed to. I suggest you do the same. I also read stopping them then starting, or maybe just stopping, can cause Hair loss.
reinventingmyself 47 Posted March 12, 2016 I am 39 and had hysterectomy at 32. I take birth control pills as my hormone replacement. I did not have to stop taking mines either. Dr. even let me take it the morning of surgery with a sip of Water. No way I could have stopped taking them. Not ready for menopause! kaitlynm 335 Posted March 12, 2016 I had to stop taking mine before the surgery. Within 2 months I was having very frequent hot flashes which I had never had before. They make you stop taking hormones because it increases the chance of blood clots. Two weeks ago I asked if I could go back on them and the surgeon agreed to let me take them. I'm 5 mos post op. Usually he waits until 6 mos, but he thought I was far enough out. The hot flashes are better, but unfortunately they have not gone away completely yet. DaisyAmy 561 Posted March 13, 2016 I'm a little older (42) and had a total hysterectomy last summer, which delayed my WLS until last Dec. I can't have HRT, because I had cancer, so I'm not sure if it's slowing down my weight loss or not. I don't have a choice in the matter and I'm losing, so that's good!!!
