I lost 37 lbs preop and had surgery on 2/29. Go to the dr next week for 2 week postop checkup and weigh in. I have not dropped a size yet. It's a little frustrating. How has everybody else done with clothing sizes?

It took me a long time to go down a size too. If you are like I was when I started, in the plus sizes, there is a BIG gap between sizes. The difference between a 22 and a 24 is a lot more than the difference between an 8 and a 10. Also, if you are like me, you were probably straining the upper end of that size you were wearing pre-op.

It took me about a month and a half to see a change. I went from a 20 to 16, now I can wear 8-11 depending on the store and where you shop.

Everyone loses weight differently. I was able to wear my pre op jeans for 7 weeks after surgery & then moved down a size. I've even heard of others losing up to 100lbs before needing to get smaller clothes.

I've lost 27 pounds. My size 24 pants were *snug* pre-op and now they're feeling comfortable. It depends on your proportions. If you carry most of your excess weight in one area (like a larger belly, butt, thighs, arms, etc.) then you'll see your sizes drop faster.

I'm proportionate so when I lose weight I lose it everywhere and not just a certain area so I thin out everywhere.

I ran into someone I hadn't seen in a couple years yesterday and she gave me the up-and-down "you were bigger when I last saw you" face. That was pretty cool :D

I carry the majority of my weight around my waist.. I have lost inches everywhere else but my waist it seems. I've gone from a 22w to 18 and my shirts have gone for a 2x to a large. I've lost 41lbs. I can't wait to lose more around my waist...

Have you taken measurements? I always find that encourages me.

I was somewhat slow to drop sizes in the beginning, but then at about 2 1/2 months out I started going through sizes like crazy. It gets pretty expensive replacing clothes. Now I have leveled off for a bit, but hope I will be dropping sizes soon.

I had the same issue....but now 4 months post op---I have totally cleared my entire closet out---I lost 40 pre op and could still wear many of my same clothes for the longest time. It will happen I promise! I do think that there is less difference between regular sized clothes-- I can wear a variety of sizes right now b/c there isn't a huge size difference in them. Today I'm wearing a size 16 jean (granted they are baggy--but I also can button my 7th graders size 10 aeropostal jeans too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
