So my surgery was on 2/29 and I lost about 20 pounds. All the sudden now since Monday I haven't lost any weight at all not even 0.5 of a pound. I'm still on a full liquid diet and don't understand why this is happening. It's very discouraging. Was this all for nothing? I'm working so hard, getting my Protein in, trying to get exercise in (still haven't gotten the approval to start a full blown exercise plan, DR just wants me to walk). Tell me I'm not crazy.

You're not crazy. I lost the first week and then nothing for the next 3, I hopped on the scale today and I had finally went down! Everyone loses at different paces. As long as you're doing everything right, getting your Protein, Water and Vitamins in you should be good. Don't stress over the scale, you will lose weight!

It is soooooo common to have a stall early on. Especially if you lose a massive amount of weight the first week or two. Your body has just been through the ringer. Trauma and changes are happening too fast for it to handle. It needs a minute to catch up. Keep getting your Water and Protein in. Take your Vitamins. Stick to your food stages. Walk a little every hour or two. You WILL lose weight. I promise. You obviously aren't going to keep losing 20 pounds a week.... there will be stalls and fluctuations along the way. But trust in the process.

I was thinking the same thing and trying not to get discouraged. I had my procedure on February 22nd and I am down 14 lbs. I struggle getting my Protein and Water in.

Okay, seriously. How much weight loss are you people expecting and where are you getting these crazy notions that 14 pounds in under 3 weeks is worthy of any emotion other than elation and excitement? "Only" 14 pounds since Feb. 22? Really?

I think it also has a lot to do with how much you might have lost pre-op I didn't lose that much. I have lost 30lbs so far since my surgery on February 11 but I think it has to do with exercise the de said I can do More I have been walking about 3 miles a day with one of those tracker things good luck and keep. Up the good work

I was totally elated over my recent weight loss. I just had my stomach cut open to help me lose weight and now to see a stall this early is just disappointing. Sure it's not a big deal stalls happen, but emotions run high right after the procedure and this should be a place to vent.

It's called "The Dreaded 3 week Stall". Frustrating, but totally normal. Probably won't be your last stall, either. I probably had 4 or 5 stalls in a matter of a year. They totally suck but just part of the whole process. They got me where I am now ;)

I'm in the same boat as you. I decided I'm going to stop weighing myself every day. I'm going to check next Sunday. Hopefully by then "something" will happen. I think people get a little sideways when people have their first stall. They forget we are very new to this. We watch so many videos and blogs of people who shed weight like it's nothing. When you are doing everything by the book and for it to stall so early (in my case I stalled during the FIRST week after surgery) it's hard not to get upset. Especially when emotionally you are still dealing with the changes. Hopefully this time next week we will be in a much better place :)

I've been stalled for six mos. Surgery in April '15. Lost forty five pounds quickly, but can't get past that point. Started at 245 lbs and am stuck at 200 lbs. Want to get to 165 lbs.

I was sleeved 2/23. Also been stalled at about a 15lb loss for a week. For me, it's incredibly challenging emotionally because with soooo many failed attempts at weight loss, this feels like yet another process that "doesn't work". I keep telling myself that cannot possibly be true. But after such an extreme and what feels like ultimate, last resort, measure, it's like "oh god, now this one too?!?? I'm NEVER going to lose!" I keep telling myself it has to work, but the brain still keeps having the same old emotions firing.

What kinds of things have you done to try to break the stall?

i had the "3 week stall" as well! i was told by friends who had this procedure that it DOES happen, and to keep doing what im doing. i lost 25lbs almost immediately after surgery and after 3 weeks of sitting in one place on the scale, i lost another 5 pounds. Just keep getting that Protein in and AS MUCH liquid as you can, and you will do fine! i still can't get all 64oz a day in and im 5 weeks out from surgery. it is a rewarding process and i can already tell i made the right decision. Just trust yourself and the process and you will surprise yourself! :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
