I was that way for almost a month. It will get better. If it continues contact your surgeon

Definitely keep in touch with your surgeon's office. Day two for me was some dry heaving (didn't even have anything to throw up). But it got better quickly after that. If it doesn't get better for you within the next day or two, you'll want to contact your surgeon because you'll be risking dehydration.

Try your best to avoid vomiting - if consuming a whole container of pudding or Protein shake (or whatever) makes you vomit, then try a half or just a third. Don't try to force your body to accept what the guidelines say. I think each person responds differently. Hang in there!

I am 4 days post-surgery and I can't get enough Water or Protein in.

Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

That's common. You need to just try your best and increase it a little every day. Protein especially will be hard to get all of it in until a week or more out. With Water, though, it's imperative to get enough to avoid dehydration.

Thanks for your responses. I haven't even left the hospital I was supposed to be discharged and they decided to keep me and put me back on IV fluids

I agree, YOU have to do what YOUR body can handle. Once I did that I stopped vommitting. I wasn't ready for Protein on day 2, I knew that and listened to my mother. Now I go by what I want and as long as I progress every day I am happy w that. Hang in there...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
