Recommended Posts

I feel my family is so small now LOL 17 kids that is amazing , I have given birth to 9 children but twins were called home on april 5,81

my children range 8 to 25 ....5 girls 4 boys all were loved and wanted and we can afford them ..

but they do not help with the figure :faint:LOL hence the need for the lap band

If that's what makes them happy, then good for them.

I can't imagine being one of 17 kids -- talk about starving for attention. Let's see what happens when their kids end up in rehab.

And it's completely possible to be raised an only child and still be starved for attention. These kids will always have someone to turn to AND someone to care for.

I doubt they're any more likely to end up in rehab than anyone else's kids -- probably LESS likely.

I too saw the show and they did seem like a very loving family, a little bit in the 'cult' side though, like they were tied up to some sort of religion or something. But, they can afford them, so I am all for it. Personally, I would not do it.

I don't find fault in how the family seemed to very loving, and willingly helping out---now we all know they DID know they were being filmed, but in general seemed very happy.

My biggest issue with having that many kids seems like you miss knowing each of them as well as you could with less. I do realize uncaring parents may not know their one child. But like I said before, the play time one on one with your child, or knowing that Jimmy doesn't like the food on his plate to touch, or that Susie is not drinking her milk it is just sitting in the glass....little things that seem impossible to deal with when you constantly have an infant, and then 16 others as well!

Then maybe she is just a whole lot better at it than I am!!! I did daycare, and we limited 4 children to one caretaker...which is about what she has when you consider her oldest children as caretakers.

As one of only 2 children, and my only sibling being a brother, I always wanted a sister to talk to and play with, these kids never lack for companionship. Which is one of the big reasons I did daycare, so my only child DD would have that...then I married a man with 2 kids...and the 3 were all one year apart....so they had close siblings in the end, and it was great!

It definitely is not something I would ever care to do---from the begining to the end---childbirth is not fun! And I can't see myself maintaining my sanity and raising 17 kids into healthy happy adults!!! I am sure my kids are glad too!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
