Try Miralex or citric magnesium. It can take a while for your system to get back on track. Be patient with yourself and make sure you are getting all of your fluids in ...drink drink drink. Have Fiber rich foods or drinks.

Definitely get as much Water as you're able too. Miralax & colace can help too. I sometimes use milk of magnesia if those don't work. If your doctor thinks you need the Iron, keep taking it! I didn't and my Iron and hemaglobin dropped severely low and I am having to have iron transfusions & possible blood transfusion if that doesn't work. Iron is super important! But I know how miserable that can be too! If it's been a week, miralax may not do it. It does help to keep you on track though.

Fiber and Water indeed. It sucks early on and I know its difficult. But not getting the fiber and Water in causes the painful bowles or worse blockage due to solid stool. Post surgery for at least the first 6 months I lived on a daily regime of Metimucil mixed with about 4oz of orange juice. I knew I could get 4oz of fluids in within like 2 minutes without issues and if you let Metimucil sit too long the fiber will thicken up like Jello and then its gross.

Please also check in with your surgeon as well. Not pooping can be a serious sign of troubles ahead. You need to be pooping at least 2 to 3 times a week. Even in the post op early on soft soild liquids on phases you should still be producing bile to pass off as stool.

For Water intake I was using a 20oz Powerade bottle that I would fill with Water and a few squirts of water enhancers like Mio. They would help give the water a juice like flavor with no added caloried or sugars. That would allow me to sip on those bottles all day at work. 20oz in the morning between 8am-11am. Then a second 20oz would take me through 12-4pm when I got off work. Then go work out and when you work out you'll consume that last 20oz of water a lot quicker post work out than when you did throughout the day.

@@BigTink2LilTink Thank You Very Much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im going to do it like that.

Also remember to give yourself some time and more importantly slack. As my mom constantly reminds me, we've just put our body through some major trauma and it needs time to heal. Some of us take longer to heal than others. So be kind to yourself and do the best that you possibly can. In time you will get there.

Dulcalax worked for me earlier on. I wouldnt go at all if i didn't take it twice a week. It's not nice to go through, not pooping, but it does get better ! Really try to get as much Fluid in as you can. I drink 20 oz on the way to work in the car, then have a 24 oz Protein latte once im at work. Thats 44oz before 9am. Fluids were never really an issue from me after the first 2 weeks so I am very lucky. Please keep sipping away!!

Try to keep it with you at all times. Add crystal light to give you some flavor. Add a timer to your phone it take sips if you need to. You need water to help push everything out!! Are you feeling any better?

I would also ask your doctor if you can take a probiotic. That will help get your digestive track filled with good bacteria to help get things moving and flowing.

I think Iron may caused it based on your statements. Anyway Water is the best solution with it. Having more fluids in our body could keep us away from Constipation. Or you can take this Digestic by Mimonis which does a great changes in our mes to indigestion problems. We are very thankful with this that is why we are sharing it to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
