Addlia 1 Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) I had my surgery 6 days ago. I joined a running/ walking clinic to help hold me accountable. After walking for about 45 minutes the instructors has us do some stretches. I didn't do all of them because I was worried I'd hurt myself. Does anyone know when it's safe to stretch? Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted March 11, 2016 I guess it depends on what you are doing. I know at 6 days out I was very careful with my abdomen. I would certainly be careful about stretching that area. Also, getting up off the ground or anything that engages those muscles may be problematic. You may want to run this by your surgeon. kaitlynm 335 Posted March 11, 2016 If possible you should try to stretch your legs (shins, calfs, hamstrings, and quads). When I first started walking several years ago I got horrible shin splints from not stretching. For walking you should just need to do your legs and not worry too much above that at this stage. Addlia 1 Posted March 11, 2016 Thank you. Common sense told me that, but I'm notorious for second guessing myself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
