pattyoj 13 Posted March 10, 2016 How long did it take you to go back to work? Specially those who have desk jobs. Please tell me what surgery you had done. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted March 10, 2016 I had VSG and went back to work at my desk job at 15 days post-op. My main issue at that point was fatigue. The pain had long passed. But I was VERY VERY tired. When I returned to work I was literally going to bed the moment I got home from work for the first few days/week. My energy level improved significantly once I was allowed more substantial food and was able to get more calories in. Definitely factor your surgeon's food stages into your decision about when you will return to work.
gpmed 623 Posted March 10, 2016 I have a desk job, had RNY and I took off five full weeks and worked from home for one week. Like @@JamieLogical said, the pain had mostly passed, but I was so very tired. Running one errand wore me out. It was like having the flu. I'm really glad I took that time to recover and adjust. AnA92212 577 Posted March 10, 2016 I have a desk job and went back to work 3 days after surgery. I have the VSG on a Monday and was back to work on Thursday. Only took the pain meds once the first night home to help me sleep. I was walking 2 miles at a time on day 2. My hubby had the surgery 3 weeks before me. He took the day of surgery off and the next day. He worked from home the following day and was back in the office the next one. I was a little tired, but I had a baby 6 weeks prior to surgery so I was who could tell??? lol. I had some nausea but I took the little pill when it came on and was fine within minutes. Sophie74656 1,572 Posted March 10, 2016 I was out of work when i had my sleeve but i think i could have gone back to work at two weeks. I felt ok after a week but was still so weak that i wouldnt have wanted to go to work like that
CowgirlJane 14,260 Posted March 11, 2016 I took 3 weeks also - no pain, but fatigue. I think I also had a slight case of the blues which sucks your energy. Lots of people go back after 1 week, but I was a band to sleeve revision, high BMI and I am guessing all that factors in.

OKCPirate 5,323 Posted March 11, 2016 VS surgery, I was working the day after surgery on my laptop in the hospital. I went to an OU football game three days later. I found that using Isopure clear Protein kept my energy high enough that I really didn't notice any major drop in energy.
