Donna 0 Posted August 6, 2007 Alcohol is fine in moderation but Inamed does not recommend drinking beer because of the carbonation. After spending $16,000 on this band I do not wish to chance any complications. What alot of people don't seem to realize is just because you may be able to drink beer or pop and not feel any discomfort at the time it does not mean it won't cause any problems long term. To me it's just not worth the risk... Donna Banded By Dr. Cobourn /06 Revised From VBG/87 251/141/125 goal

Devana 0 Posted August 7, 2007 I still drink the same as I did pre band. Nothing makes a couple of tablespoonsful of food go down like a nice glass of wine.
Devana 0 Posted August 7, 2007 Yeah, yeah, I know, no drinking with meals!
beau 0 Posted August 9, 2007 Lol, I'm laughing cause everyone is assuming I'm a regular at the beer store. Actually I drink red wine, favourite is Masi Valpolicella (Italian), that said, I think I'll do just fine.

green 6 Posted August 9, 2007 My favourites are the Frenchies, particularly those from Bordeaux, but I am not too fussy really. I like them dry and I like them to come with French passports is all.
Gaffer 1 Posted August 9, 2007 My favourites are the Frenchies, particularly those from Bordeaux, but I am not too fussy really. I like them dry and I like them to come with French passports is all. I have been enjoying wine more after I have been banded. I was/still am somewhat of a beer snob, but I have started to get into more wine lately. My wife & I have really been enjoying some nice Pinotage wines lately. I cant say that I am partial to a particular country, I am an equal opportunity wino. The only thing that I dislike is that I try to finish my wine before my food arrives. I am a strict no liquids with food kinda guy. Any one have a favorite wine they like lately? Here are my recent favorites: Ash Tree Estate Shiraz Monastrell Graham Beck Pinno Pinnotage Good Stand Bys: Ruffino Chianti Folanari Valpolicella (This is great because it comes in half bottles which is perfect when you dont want to open a whole bottle, and they are only about $6 each here) Andrew
green 6 Posted August 9, 2007 I am a fan of the Frenchies because these were what my parents served us on special occasions when we were young. Then I spent 3 years living in France, 2 of these with a mate, a French guy who had deep pockets and a real affection for wine. During this period I was exposed to some truly magnificient wine, stuff which was expensive and difficult to obtain by French standards. I left France back in the summer of 1984 and after suffering some initial degree of grief about returning to Toronto in order to resume my real life I finally did calm down and I rightfully realised that life in Toronto can be very bluddy wonderful. Nevertheless, I still do find myself pawing and scratching at the vitrines behind which Vintages houses the really good stuff. You see, there had been a day when I had had the privilege of being able to guzzle that stuff.
marcar35 0 Posted August 9, 2007 I am a wine groupie as well Since my banding I've enjoyed a couple of glasses of wines (usually limited to 1/2 a cup). My next drinking 'binge' will be this coming Monday (my birthday). I will splurge, buy Masi Amarone and thoroughly enjoy one full glass of wine.....no comments from the peanut galleries please :biggrin1:

loriely 0 Posted August 10, 2007 My favorite drink is brown cow (kalua and milk)mmm. Wine gives me a bad headache.
argon 3 Posted August 10, 2007 Wine makes me feel 'funny'.... I get all hot and purple-faced splotchy, and it hits me WAY fast. I'm supposedly a Rosacean, and may come from that.... or maybe I'm allergic. I dunno. I wasn't always like that though. It's annoying, cause I like wine. LMCHP 0 Posted August 11, 2007 When I had my surgery done, I was given a book about lap band surgery that was written by a prominent Australian lap band surgeon. In the chapter about food and drink it stated that at first they told their patients not to drink as it was just empty calories, but that through research with their clients they found that a glass of wine, especially a glass of red wine was actually beneficial to weight loss. It stated that he allowed 7 glasses of red wine per week. :clap2: I've enjoyed a glass of wine since surgery on occasion, and my favourite right now is Yellow Tail Chiraz. Yummy! I've been craving a bottle of beer the last few days, it's just been so hot and sticky, but I'm afraid of the fizzies. So I'll stick with my occasional glass of wine
