LosGal 8 Posted March 10, 2016 I'm having a hard time sticking to the clear liquid diet. I'm on it for 6 weeks starting March 1st and I can't stick to it consistently without cheating. Trust me I want to but then I end up messing up. Its depressing and upsetting. I have 4 small kids ranging from 5 to 10 months old. I'm not sure if its just mommy stress and other personal stress but I just can't seem to stick to it. Surgery date is 4/14/16. Any tips out there? Help. Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted March 10, 2016 Clear liquid for six weeks? Wow. I really think this is the first time I have ever heard of anyone having to be on Clear liquids so long. Are you SURE it is Clear Liquids? What exactly are you allowed? How are you getting your Protein and nutrition?
LosGal 8 Posted March 10, 2016 Clear liquid for six weeks? Wow. I really think this is the first time I have ever heard of anyone having to be on clear liquids so long. Are you SURE it is clear liquids? What exactly are you allowed? How are you getting your Protein and nutrition? For my 6 month supervised diet, I lost weight and then gained it all back within the last 2 months so suegeon says to me to just go all liquid diet til I see him on the 4th of April and then 2 weeks from that visit I assume lll be on the all liquid clear diet since my surgery is exactly 10 days from then. But even if it were shorter. How would I have done it 10 days before surgery without cheating. If I can't even do it in advance. LosGal 8 Posted March 10, 2016 Nutrition, Jello, chicken broth, beef broth, crystal light and multi Vitamin. That's about it. Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted March 10, 2016 There is a huge difference between a clear liquid diet and a liquid diet. Make sure you drink all the Protein shakes you are allowed. Use sugar-free Popsicles, broth, crushed ice, crystal light, Water, Herb tea, etc. to keep you hydrated. You will also want to keep yourself busy. Look for things to do with your hands. Try knitting, coloring, taking walks, etc. Six weeks on liquids is going to BA a challenge, especially pre-op but you can do it.

WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted March 10, 2016 @, I'd like to recommend that you attend the surgery practice's support group. You can succeed if you make up your mind, but, because you regained the weight you lost in the six month period, you should build as much of a support network as possible. If your practice, doesn't have a group, contact others that are nearby. They probably will welcome you to their groups at no charge. Something else to consider is seeing a therapist who has particular experience with weight and food issues. I really do believe you can get through the next several weeks and continue losing weight after surgery, but there's no such thing as having too much support. kalea_04 14 Posted March 10, 2016 You can do this!!! I was off/on clear liquid for 7 months prior to my surgery. Believe me I was not perfect. I'm not going to lie I ate a lot of Popsicles haha which helped with my sugar cravings. If you don't let yourself get hungry it makes it easier. So drink as many Proteins as you can and I think eating broth like Soup rather than drinking it helped me feel like I'm eating. If you get the munchies I would just get up and find some thing to do. My friend told me to do planks. I didn't do them very well but I actually really liked that advice because it was usually late and I didn't want to do a full workout but it was better than just sitting on the couch thinking about food. I also got on here and read posts and discussions which was really helpful and motivating. Good luck!!! You've got this!!! kalea_04 14 Posted March 10, 2016 Oh and drink and track your Water. If I focus more on tracking my Water, Proteins, Vitamins, etc it helps to distract as well. I was drinking 100oz of water per day and it really helped! Sent from my iPhone using BariatricPal
