Sandra86says 92 Posted March 9, 2016 After 3 denials ( July '15, Jan '16 and Feb '16) and countless heartaches, my medical director overturned the decision and finally approved me today!!! The amount of joy I have is epic! PRAISE JESUS! ????
tailor-made 33 Posted March 10, 2016 That's awesome news. Congrats! I'm waiting on approval from Cigna now and it's stressful. Who is your insurance company? Why did they keep denying you? Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
Sandra86says 92 Posted March 10, 2016 I have Blue Shield of Ca. It's a bunch a BS why I kept getting denied... In July because I didn't have 6 month of weigh ins with my PCP, in January because they weren't happy with my PCPs notes, and last month because of some BS w my Medical Group handling my paperwork wrong. It's been a horrible past few months but I am finally approved and anxious for my next step!!

coleycole127 4 Posted March 12, 2016 Do all Blue Cross Blue Shield policies require this? It sounded like I just needed a letter from my pcp...I'm confused lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
BevBrown34 17 Posted March 12, 2016 I have Anthem, a BCBS Plan, and it took six months of weigh-ins, a psychological evaluation, clearance from my PCP and a whole bunch of diagnostic tests to get approved for my VSG. I had my VSG on 3/7. I went to pre-surgery supported group meetings during the six months pre-surgery and found them to be very helpful. I wonder about the Plans that don't have any pre-surgery requirements. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
Brittneysue12345 18 Posted March 12, 2016 @@coleycole127 I got some paperwork and kinda took it the same way. I see doctor for first time Monday so I will see. All bcbs policies r different so I'm not sure if that's it or what. My friend didn't have to do any of the 6 months weight follow.. She did some reguakr testing and her 4 classes required by the facility and had surgery within 3-4 months of starting program. So I guess all are different.
