ohhsosweetxvb 44 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Today was my 3rd follow up appointment with my surgeon. I told them I was disappointed that I lost 10 pounds the first week after surgery and then nothing the next 3. They reassured me that it's normal, that everyones body is different and some will lose from the beginning and others(probably me) will start losing a couple months afterwards. They told me my metabolism might have to catch up. I just have to focus on what I'm putting into my body and how I feel and not what the scale says. It is definitely going to be a struggle. WLSResources/ClothingExch 3,444 Posted March 9, 2016 . I just have to focus on what I'm putting into my body and how I feel and not what the scale says. It is definitely going to be a struggle. That's exactly what it's about. As with any endeavor that will have a brilliant result, our job is to do the work. If we work correctly, the brilliance will flood in. Actors, painters, musicians (real musicians) will tell you that it's about the work first.
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted March 9, 2016 I agree with them 100%. As long as you follow the plan, get your Protein, Water, and Vitamins in and gradually increase your activity, you WILL lose the weight!
Babbs 14,681 Posted March 9, 2016 They are right! Just be patient and consistent. The rest will come. None if us lost it overnight, although that would have been nice
Paluma0268 45 Posted March 9, 2016 Think about it this way - the weight didn't go on overnight, so it stands to reason that it won't come off overnight. Although like Babbs said that would be nice! Lol I've had to remind myself of this as I have struggled with losing and then not losing. During those times I ignored the scale and measured my successes by how my clothes fit or how I felt. Don't get discouraged!
JCalli77 38 Posted March 9, 2016 So I'm kind of in the same position. I am losing. But so very slowly!! Surgery was 12/18 and I'm down 30 pounds. I only have 40 more to hit my goal wait and so frustrated that I'm only going down 1-2 pounds a week. I have recently learned to stay away from the scale!! It is not my friend. While I've only lost 30 since surgery..40 before... I have gone from a size 20/22 jeans down to a 14 2 weeks ago and today bought a size 12!!! They fit... I can even breath and don't even have to lay down to zip them!! So even though the scale numbers are not where I want I still feel as if this journey is working and was so worth it!! I'm hoping the numbers on the scale start going down like the have on the clothes tags!! Hang in there!
ohhsosweetxvb 44 Posted March 10, 2016 I'm having non scale victories too. I feel and look better in my clothes. I am sittng on the floor at work right now up against a wall and my knee can practically touch my chest without a struggle. It's a bit easier to go up stairs.
