Good morning. I'm new here and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on good Breakfast foods during my pre-op journey? March is the first of six months for me and I'm having the darnest time trying to get good breakfast ideas. My safe place is my Protein Shakes but I want to have a nice hot breakfast. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Good suggestions from Learningtolive. I also sometimes eat turkey/chicken chili or a deli meat/cheese rollup if I'm wanting something savory. If I liked yogurt, I would be eating that every day probably. I have a bag of turkey meatballs in the fridge, so sometimes I'll cook one of those, one egg, and maybe 1/4 cup cottage cheese and scramble that together. Protein packed and delicious! Generally, stick with Protein and good fats and avoid bread/starches and you'll be good. :)

I love it when people get creative with their meals! meatballs/eggs/cottage cheese! Yum!

Now that I'm working again, Protein shakes are all I can manage... but on the weekends, I will cook something egg based. I haven't had surgery yet though, so I don't know what I'll like/tolerate afterwards

My NUT actually suggested chili because it has double meat. It also worked well in the puree phase. pureed chili still tastes like chili. That is not true of all things. :P

March is my first month of my 6 as well! I'm still having a hard time figuring this out myself. For a quick fix I do Protein shake (even though I hate them) I was looking into under 400 calorie hot oatmeal recipes that are high in Protein that look good but haven't gotten to try them yet.

My dr told me not eat any kind of sausage, hot dogs, or anything like that. And definately NO SUGAR OR FOODS WITH SUGAR. A BIG NO NO. My biggest thing is snacking. I always want to snack. Any helpful ideas

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
