MonicaEMT 35 Posted March 9, 2016 Good morning. I'm new here and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on good Breakfast foods during my pre-op journey? March is the first of six months for me and I'm having the darnest time trying to get good breakfast ideas. My safe place is my Protein Shakes but I want to have a nice hot breakfast. Can anyone help? Thank you. Sent from my 831C using the BariatricPal App
Learningtolive 109 Posted March 9, 2016 Egg beaters, hard-boiled eggs, weight control oatmeal, kashi cereals. Turkey sausage if you want Protein and taste of a typical Breakfast. I did/and still do post-op, use my Protein shakes as my AM snack.
Cervidae 2,389 Posted March 9, 2016 Good suggestions from Learningtolive. I also sometimes eat turkey/chicken chili or a deli meat/cheese rollup if I'm wanting something savory. If I liked yogurt, I would be eating that every day probably. I have a bag of turkey meatballs in the fridge, so sometimes I'll cook one of those, one egg, and maybe 1/4 cup cottage cheese and scramble that together. Protein packed and delicious! Generally, stick with Protein and good fats and avoid bread/starches and you'll be good.
MonicaEMT 35 Posted March 9, 2016 Ok both of those sounds great. Thank you Sent from my 831C using the BariatricPal App
pammieanne 269 Posted March 9, 2016 I love it when people get creative with their meals! meatballs/eggs/cottage cheese! Yum! Now that I'm working again, Protein shakes are all I can manage... but on the weekends, I will cook something egg based. I haven't had surgery yet though, so I don't know what I'll like/tolerate afterwards
MonicaEMT 35 Posted March 9, 2016 Does the gastric bypass have a worst effect on for food tolerance the the gastric sleeve? Sent from my 831C using the BariatricPal App
mngreeneyes 674 Posted March 9, 2016 My NUT actually suggested chili because it has double meat. It also worked well in the puree phase. pureed chili still tastes like chili. That is not true of all things. pam

For a quick fix I do Protein shake (even though I hate them) I was looking into under 400 calorie hot oatmeal recipes that are high in Protein that look good but haven't gotten to try them yet. Mudgy6 88 Posted March 14, 2016 My dr told me not eat any kind of sausage, hot dogs, or anything like that. And definately NO SUGAR OR FOODS WITH SUGAR. A BIG NO NO. My biggest thing is snacking. I always want to snack. Any helpful ideas Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
