I am so so so happy! I just did my last drs visit yesterday and they submitted my paperwork today and I got an approval. I do not have to do the psych evaluation. O I almost forgot surgery date April 12th.

My surgery date is April 12th, I'm on my 5th day of Optifast. Nothing outside of 5 shakes a day, no caffiene, and tons of Water. I wasn't nervous about having surgery until I had my date and now I am. Plus, I'm having my surgery in another city and I'm going alone because we have a toddler and it is just easier for everyone. I don't know if I'll be more worried for surgery or my Husband juggling work and a 2 year old for a week lol.

@happyhealthymama I'm so JEALOUS. I've got a 6yo and a 3yo. I'd LOVE to go alone to the hospital, but I guarantee they'll all be there half the time. ;) I'm trying to bribe my surgeon for an extra day.

I am also on day 5 of my pre op shake diet how are you feeling about it @@happyhealthymama

It's been hard (tempted to cheat every day lol) but it's been worth it so far. I've lost 7lbs since Monday. The first week is always the hardest and the highest weight loss. How are you doing?

Haha, I didn't think of it that way. I will be using my time away to catch up on over 2 years of sleep

What kind of shakes are you guys using and where did you get them? My surgeon doesn't care what I use as long as I hit my Protein count. I start preop diet on 04/05.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
