Surgery Roux-en-y Surgery April 4!

Recommended Posts

I found ice really helps too, I added some instant Decaf to a chocolate shake blended it with ice and it was the best one yet. I have been playing around with extracts too. ..so far orange with the vanilla shake is pretty good and banana too. I will be having surgery in Thunder Bay, not sure which doctor there's 2 that switch off...will find out more info next Wednesday

Lucky lucky lol I have to be on it for 3 weeks and only Optifast and Water also if I absolutely have to I can have 2 cups of lettuce celery or brocolli

Yes but I hate Protein shakes lol. I keep telling myself I'll only have to drink them for a few weeks pre & post op & it will all be worth it.

I got the call today that my date is set. I'm a ball of emotions fear hope happiness nervous. I dont know what I should expect after surgery besides what my doctors have told me. This is the first time I have found a group of people who are in the same boat as me. I am in Canada though I notice most here are American.

I'm on low carb for now and shakes for the final 5 days before surgery. I hope that I am well enough to go to my neighbours 6th birthday party on 9th April, even though I won't be able to eat anything.

My date is April 4 and I'm just north of Toronto Canada....I am on day 4 of the all liquid diet which I have to do for 3 weeks

3 weeks liquid pre op is tough!

I will probably do 7 days instead of 5 to ensure my liver in perfect condition.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
