As my surgery date approached, and I hate surgery, I just kept telling myself this had to be done just like my gallbladder had to come out, and it put me more at ease. Try to tell yourself you really have no choice in the matter, it just needs to be done, for your health of course. The preop for me was 2-3 shakes a day and 1 low carb meal so it was not that bad, good luck. I am now 7 months post sleeve and down 84lbs.

That's my surgery date I hope if insurance stop tripping. My insurance company is Cigna and the JUST sent me a letter stating that my insurance won't cover it because their medical Dr looked over my medical information and it's not a medical problem in my case so I THINK I'm denied the coverage. I'm pissed. However my bariatric team says that my insurance cleared it. That was 11 am today. Part me wants to tear this letter up and act like I didn't receive it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
