4 Weeks Post Surgery: Things that are different

Recommended Posts

Things I've noticed 4 weeks after surgery:

1. As my body shrinks, I kinda have a butt now.

2. I'm slowly able to put clothes which are too big in a bag to donate.

3. I make time to get 10,000 steps per day.

4. Finally considering a personal trainer.

5. I sleep better than before.

6. My shoes fit better than before.

7. My face is slimmer.

8. I smile a lot more.

9. I am more conscious about how I look when I leave the house.

10. I have no regrets about the sleeve. Best medical decision I have ever elected to do in my life!!

I'm approaching my 4 week post op as well and I can relate to a lot of the things listed. I really need to improve on my walking. My surgeon released me from all physical restrictions at 6 weeks, so I'm looking forward to joining a gym and maybe even getting a personal trainer. How much progress(weight loss) have you made so far?

Good Luck to you!

Hi.

I recognize your doctors name. He was not my doctor, but I bet we had our surgery at the same Hospital. My surgery was Feb 24th.

I am also 4 weeks out, almost 5. I had lost 34 pounds, but have gained back almost 2 lbs. I think it is a little too early for a plateau, but I have been working out an average of 2 days a week. I got a fitbit and have been tracking my steps. I should probably get a little more active. My calories are always around 700 and my Protein is around 50-70. I am striving for the 60-80. The one place I consistently fail is my Fluid intake. I am not sure if that could be slowing my weight loss or not. ????

yes that can slow things down a bit. you could be holding Water, with the little weight gain. if you can manage to get more fluids in I think that number will change.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
