Feeling disappointed

Recommended Posts

I've been so busy the past few weeks, trying to get my house ready to be on the market and purchasing a new home already that I've completely lost track of me and my journey. I haven't been able to exercise in about 2 months...which I hate because I love to exercise. My eating for the last 4 days has been terrible and I've gained 2 pounds. I am so disappointed with myself. I know that I will get to goal and I'm only 6 months out, and once I'm on the market with the house and settlement is done at the end of this month things will calm down. I vow to stay away from carbs and sugars starting right now.

Hello

It's really hard to eat the stuff we should not be eating and it seems to go down much easier than the good stuff or maybe that's just me .

I went through the process of listing/selling my old house and buying a new house and moving from August through November. On top of that, my sister and her 4 kids had moved in with us in our old house in June and didn't move out until September (so they were living there the whole time we were showing and trying to sell our old house). It all turned my life completely upside down. But the beauty of it is, I came out the other side weighing the same as when I'd gone in. In the past, that amount of stress and being that far out of my routine for 5 months would have caused me to gain a good 50 pounds. But even though I wasn't exercising regularly and I wasn't as meticulous with my food, I didn't GAIN weight, which, for me, was a HUGE win. Sure I didn't lose weight either, but at least I didn't have a whole lot of ground to make up from backsliding. That is the beauty of the tool we've been given. It's still there, kind of doing it's thing, even when we can't use it to its fullest potential. But once we ARE able to get back on track, it so much easier!

Forgive yourself now and move on. Being disappointed in yourself, while totally understandable, won't help you in the long run.

You're human. Life gets in the way. Just pick yourself up, brush yourself off, forgive yourself and move on. Hang in there!

You are human and things happen! Just don't let it spiral out of control. Use it as a learning experience. I hope things settle down for you soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
