My scale hasn't moved since week 2. I'm a month out. The first week I lost 10 pounds and then I've stalled. It sucks. I'm hoping now that I'm back to work and have a routine it'll move.

I just heard from my dietician and she said , it is frustrating, but one day we will step on the scale and get great results....so I guess this isn't abnormal

We just need to stay the course !! we can do this

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. None of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all stall periodically and almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just follow your program.

Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids.

Avoid starches and added sugars.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

Stay off the scale of you are going to let it drive you crazy.

And, Embrace the Stall!

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Don't beat yourself up over it. The "3 week stall" (and other plateaus) are very common.

You could probably find hundreds of posts on this website alone on this subject.

Glad to hear it helped. Yeah, we all freaked out around that time. Hang in there and you'll be fine!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
