caligirltt 60 Posted March 7, 2016 Ok, so I am almost done with my classes with Kaiser been approved by everyone through Kaiser. Now just waiting on my cardio, and the outside surgeon to "discuss" my baffles that were created in my heart when I was a baby. Anyways...I have started adding Protein Shakes to my diet, and I am horribly constipated...anyone else have this issue?! When I originally lost a lot of weight I used a different Protein but it's one I blend, and they advise not doing that because of air after surgery. I don't remember being constipated before, but I was exercising like a crazy person and drinking coffee, which gets things movin'! What do you all think?!? James Marusek 5,244 Posted March 8, 2016 Congratulations on your 80 pound weight loss prior to surgery. It will add to your total weight loss. Don't be too concerned about your Protein shake at this point. Your taste buds may dramatically change after surgery and what you find acceptable now may be terrible after surgery. So be open to experimentation. The goal is to find a Protein Shake that you can tolerate. The Constipation may be due in part to the substantial weight loss you have experienced at this point. Many people use powder Protein shakes and blend them using a Ninja blender or equivalent with Water or milk. Blending shakes is appropriate and I would not be too concerned about the air caused by blending.
caligirltt 60 Posted March 8, 2016 Ok. I've kept the weight off for 3 years but can't seem to lose anymore mostly do to my cardiac condition I was born with. The Doctor had wanted me to switch to a higher Protein shake. But if we can blend and not worry much then maybe I'll go back to my old shake and just add an extra half scoop to get to what he's wanting me to have in Protein until surgery. Thanks!
