I often wonder that myself. I will be 1 year May 1st and I feel like I can eat a lot and it worries me.

My surgeon said it is actually very difficult to stretch. The tissue of the stomach is kind of like a leather purse, after over stuffing it for a while it might stretch slightly, but it takes a lot to make that happen. Drinking either while eating or after is likely to cause you to be able to eat more, but that is because the Fluid is pushing the food through the stomach, instead of staying in the stomach.

I am 9 months post op and can typically eat between 3/4-1C at a time.

Last night I was able to eat 1/2C cottage cheese and 1/2C refried Beans.

I'm 1 yr out and I can only eat 1/2 cup of food at a time. And drink 40 min after eating. Today I finally keep down some chicken with tomatoes sauce, I do have a pain in the left side tho. I wasn't able to eat chicken or meat or fish before today. I feel so full I eat about 4oz. I'm here trying to gain back some weight.

Stretching is a bit of a rare occurrence. At the one year mark, you're suppose to eat 1 cup of food. My NUT said 1 cup at 1 year, but no more than that. Im 7 months out and can eat 1/2-2/3 c, depending on the density and texture of the food. Your pouch is probably fine. Just dont drink with meals.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
