Im have been talking to a few people and I hear many have either new found energy or just energy in general where they never did...

Tell me your energy level before and after surgery.

My energy level has been increasing, especially now that I am able to exercise more often and more intensely.

I think a combination of healthy eating, exercise, sleeping well, and abstaining from caffeine for the most part since before surgery have had a big influence on my increase in energy. The weight loss hasn't hurt either!

For me, the energy came after surgery, after I started eating more nutritious foods, exercising, etc. Immediately after surgery while I was still healing my energy level was still low.

Be patient. It will come.

I had moderate energy before - and would typically walk 20 minutes in the morning, often taking naps at my meal break and to tired to do much at night.

Now, I walk a half an hour in the morning, and evening. I have had some naps, but at two weeks out I am still in the immediate post op period. I am sleeping better and allergy symptoms are way down. I feel incredible! the first week was the best, I think it was the steroids given during surgery but I felt fabulous. Hope it lasts!

My energy started to return after about 2 months post op. Adding calories and more real foods is what helped a ton. When I was just eating 400 calories max and relying so heavily on Protein drinks, I was really tired. I am only 3 months post op and workout intensely at least 4 times a week. My energy is through the roof!

i called my NUT at 11 days out and said i felt like i was in a coma and hungry. (still on 12 oz shakes a day total) she said if u heal fast and the swelling goes down the shake and Clear liquids go thru u faster and u can feel hungry. also, some people are very sensitive to the lack of carbs. she said to add one serving fruits (like half a cup berries or half a banana to your shake for the day (in the blender w the fruit then split it up during the day) it helped bring back some energy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
