Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Seems surreal...

So tonight I was working on my taxes. (FYI- for those that donate your too big clothes, you need to keep really a detailed record of what you donate, when and get receipts!)

I remember right after surgery last spring struggling with the idea of getting rid of my winter clothes since they'd be too big by winter. It was impossible to wrap my head around. Now it's heading to spring again, I looked through my closet and drawers and realized there is not a single item in there from 'before'. Not a shirt, bra or even a panty-- everything is new. (Or like new-- I do thrift stores at times). I was a size 26, and am starting in on 14 now. And again, its hard to wrap my head around the fact that I'll likely have this same 'wardrobe flip' next year this time.

I didn't hate myself before, but I love my new shape and fitness in a different way. I've worked for it and appreciate it. My life was pretty complete before all this, but now It's rounded it out in a way I didn't expect.

Man, I gotta tell you, that was a very moving post! I'm less than a month out but I feel unbelievable. I met the surgery half way almost, I lost around 33 lbs pre-surgery and now down another 24 in 3 and a half weeks! We're rollin....

Everything's hanging off me, been hittin Goodwill and such; I refuse to buy a new wardrobe until I'm sure that I've leveled off, maybe around MAy or June, so I'll be saving up..

So good job to you! I know it feels pretty fabulous, I can't believe the reduction in daily pain from back and joint pain that was my companion.

Congrats. I have already started the clear out. I have two boxes overflowing with items I need to take to the consignment store next week. I have cleared out most of my sweaters and all the winter stuff that doesn't fit. I discovered yesterday that I now fit into the shorts that were too small but I was saving for someday so I may actually start summer with clothes that fit! I am going to need to hit the sales soon for workout clothes as even those are getting rather tent like!

Next big purchase, new smaller underwear and bras. Its been put off for as long as I can!

Heavenly, the feeling of tossing out those clothes! I have a big bag in the back of my car right now. One is this nice furry vest thing it seems like I just bought it but you could fit two of me in the darn thing now. It's almost surreal watching this happen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
