Always hungry - help please!

Recommended Posts

Okay so I ate 3 oz of food for lunch. I got full before I even finished it, but I finished it anyway. It was one scrambled egg and one peice of sausage which I then weighed out. Two and a half hours later, I'm starving. Since I got full so quick, shouldn't the feeling last so much longer than 2 and a half hours???

No. I wait an hour at least after eating to have a drink.

Not necessarily. This is the type of detail that you need to discuss with your surgical and fill team. Until green zone is achieved it is a process of small fills and watching how that results in satiety. Two important things. Slow down your eating. A lot. Make that egg and sausage take 20 minutes to eat if you can. Tiny well chewed bites. You may be swallowing bites that are too big and overwhelming your band while you are eating. Then because it was only a few ounces of food you rightfully became hungry earlier than three hours.

Ideal green for me is 4-6 ounces of p rotein followed by 3-4 hours without hunger. It took me eight fills and a year and a half to get to and keep my green zone. I also had to be honest with myself and clean up my food. Focusing on solid p rotein chewed well and no sliders.

I have found that in days when I feel ravenous, which really stand out Bc most days I have almost no appetite, it is because my body needs nutrients. On those days I give it all it asks for and find that within a day or two I'm back to normal. I also hydrate it well and get sleep if I need it. If theses an emotional factor involved I address that too, but mostly it's the nutritional thing. And my weight loss has not been hurt by this at all but I sure am feeling better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
