Need to be a little more specific....

Funny thing about pain and the body, is that pain can radiate to different locations from where it is generated...also we sometmes think in one dimension....

For instance, I can get heartburn and feel it through my back of my ribcage...and it can radiate upwards towards my scapula...

But we can only describe what we experience...not try to identify what others are experiencing...especially over the internet.

One way to zero in on your pain, is to see what alleviates it?

As strange as it seems, try eating more mild foods...see if that makes a difference...or when you get this pain, take a anti-acid medication.

See what helps.

That shoulder pain is awful! It is gas! It can happen if your food is backed up or at night when your stomach gets a little bit more swollen and you don't have as much room to drink Water or if you have abused your stomach by overeating a little bit and the Water starts backing up that can cause it. one simple trick that I've found, is every time I take a drink I let all the air out through my mouth and then I drink and I don't gulp and I don't use a straw. Once I started doing that I never got the shoulder pain again. I hope this helps.

Yes I feel like it could be when I eat.. Not that I'm over eating, it just happens very randomly. It feels just like that pain we speak of post op but much more mild (thank god). It's very annoying it lingers for ages.. I don't drink soft drink or eat bread it just happened out of nowhere one day, I haven't touched my band at all, the last fill appointment I had was November and I had some taken out so I could enjoy Christmas... I'm glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.

I believe, left shoulder pain is generally caused by gas in new patients. If you've had your procedure for a few months or years I believe it has to do with something called the Phrenic nerve. I think it's attached to the diaphragm. Many LapBand patients get referred and excruciating left shoulder pain when they over eat or have a band that's too tight. Left shoulder pain can mean many other things as well and I'd get it checked out if it doesn't subside.
