Jennifree 16 Posted March 4, 2016 I am having a difficult time with nausea. I had my RNY on Feb. 16th. Wednesday was a good day, and I added some V8 juice to my diet. Slowly, 1 Oz at a time. By 9pm, I was in the bathroom, vomiting and very sick. I called my surgeon yesterday, and he asked that I come right in. He "smelled" dehydration from my lungs, and was a bit concerned when he felt my belly around the incisions. He was a bit surprised at how tender I still was. So, he had me wheeled over to the ER for IV fluids and a CT scan. It came back normal, which is great. Today, I started with just cold Water to drink for a few hours, then had a sugar free popsicle. For lunch, I had 3oz of bariatric pal cream of chicken Soup. About an hour ago, I started getting nauseous again, and I'm uneasy. I know I need fluids, but I really don't want to push it and start vomiting again.... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
summerebanks 12 Posted March 4, 2016 I've created a closed Facebook group called Bariatric Surgeries 2016 if anyone would like to join! I still have to schedule a date for my surgery, but I'd to receive/share pre-op, post-op, and any advice others have! That sounds rough going! I haven't had surgery as yet, planning on a gastric bypass, so I don't have any advice...but I have sympathy! I hope you hold down some fluids soon. Keep us posted! valentinebaby78 9 Posted March 4, 2016 Does zofran help? I had my surgery Feb 22 and had a rough start but no problems with nausea not really anyway. I do have a problem with hydrating though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Jennifree 16 Posted March 4, 2016 No, not really. Even at the hospital, only Reglan worked for the nausea. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
daniotra 298 Posted March 4, 2016 Reglan is nasty stuff. Are you familiar with the side effects? It can cause tics that may or may not resolve when you stop the med. My son was on it for a while as an infant due to motility issues. He did develop a tic, but it thankfully cleared up once the med stopped. If it's a motility issue, low dose erythromycin sometimes works. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Jennifree 16 Posted March 4, 2016 I only had 1 dose of Reglan. Just enough to let me keep down that nasty stuff you have to drink for the CT scan...
lifeofblair 308 Posted March 4, 2016 I was only had nausea for like a week after. I took finnegran (sp?) and it helped me. Hopefully yours will get better soon!
