DeletedMember 715 Posted March 26, 2016 Your company only needs to know the date of your medical procedure, what your restrictions are, and when you can return to work. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
HanSolo1977 261 Posted March 27, 2016 I'm in the similar boat... My parents, sister and husband now. I will not tell anyone else. People are easy to judge and I don't want to hear it. I don't want to tell my boss, even thou I will be out for 2/3 days. I wonder if the Doctor will say on a note I got my gallbladder removed? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Most of the time it just says surgery. There's no requirement saying what surgery as far as I know.
FluffyMcMarsh 20 Posted March 31, 2016 I'm a medic. I had to tell my boss and my shift. I'm scared of dumping and lifting when I get back, I need them to know what's going on incase I ever become a patient. BigBuc 13 Posted April 3, 2016 I did not want to tell anyone beyond my wife and kids... Seems my wife thinks it's ok to tell passing strangers, neighbors, kinfolk... Sheesh. Hah... Sent from my XT1575 using the BariatricPal App
Twinkle Toes 29 Posted April 6, 2016 I have told my sister & a few very close friends who will be helping with my recovery. I'll tell my parents (in their 80's) this week sometime, but I believe they will be fine with it. I have not told my boss, he has made less than favorable comments in the past about someone else possibly getting bypass, so all he knows is I will probably need abdominal surgery in the coming months. I'm having a little bit of a hard time justifying this deception because he's really a great guy to work for, but for now I'm not telling him. Had my surgery consult yesterday--endoscope on April 26th--hoping for a surgery date end of May/beginning of June!!
taramarie523 116 Posted April 6, 2016 You must read my post on this subject. I don't no how to attach it to you but you can find it if you click on my posts. There are some fantastic comments in there to my post. I am also only telling my husband mom and aunt. My sisters I will tell as well. (I'm sure my mother already did) lol. But these are all close family I see on a daily basis other then that no one will no. I'm still in the air as to what I'm going to tell ppl about the surgery itself. Some suggested saying hiatal hernia repair. But as far as explaining liquid diets and lack of food I'm just being honest im saying I'm on a serious diet. During the liquid phase I'm going to use the Protein shake/ cleanse diet fad. "It's my cleanse day sorry" lol good luck and check out my post! In fact your letter will just say surgery and when they clear you to come back.
