Does anyone know how soon you can have gummy vitamins post-op? I know they aren't recommended for the main Multivitamin because they aren't complete, but I found a Gummy Biotin for hair and nails, and thought that might be a good solution until I am past the chewable vitamins stage.

BUT I wasn't sure how soon post-op gummies would be allowed.

Thanks!!

I started taking them three weeks after my surgery. I tried a couple different kinds and just could not find one I enjoyed, so went back to pills.

I was allowed gummies after 2 weeks. I use Walgreens Women's Multivitamin for my main Vitamin and haven't had an issues. I take them twice a day instead of just once as suggested on the bottle.

Edited to add that these gummies are a lot smaller then any other I've found.

A lot of those hair, skin, nails gummies are sugar bombs. Watch out for that. I have yet to find a hair, skin, nails Gummy that isn't a sugar bomb. Also, we don't absorb gummies as well. Any reason why you want a gummy vs a capsule or chewable? If you're newly post-op, i'd recommend a tablet or capsule form and then just crush it if you cant swallow whole pills yet.

My physician told me no gummies at all. In the beginning they can get "stuck" and after that they don't absorb well so you're really not getting all you need to get.

gummies are hard on me. They feel like the are stuck. Plus it's like gum...best not to do.

My Dr also forbids gummy vitamins of any kind for life. I take the Bariatric Advantage multi Vitamin and it has Biotin in it. 5 months out now and no Hair loss so far. Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Ok, first of all I recommended Fiber Choice FIBER gummies. i never said take Gummy vitamins; those wont do the trick. My bariatric team said FIBER gummies were ok, given that they are low to no sugar, which they are. Fiber Choice fiber gummies are all fiber soluable from fruit pectin which means they "melt" as you chew them. Can you chew? Then they wont get "stuck." Also, if I dont take them, I dont poop. So, noone's gonna tell me my body doesnt absorb them. Lol. But no, I'd never recommend gummy vitamins. Just saying, when you're further out, it may help.

I have struggled with all chewable vitamins. i do take the gummies although its not recommended by my dr. I have found that with the chewables (calcium to) i just cant stomach the taste and texture, I tried the ones from Bariatric Advantage that are "like a starburst" and they were horrible. I would much rather take a regular pill but i dont know if we are allowed to do that?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
