TREAT YO SELF

Recommended Posts

Hi all. The thrifty side of me is coming out as I see all of these. I am sure most of you use it , but there may be a few unfamiliar with it, but check out GROUPON to help reduce the cost of some of those treats. It also may give you some ideas for new treats. I live in a pretty big city so my available options may be more than many but dang you can get some good deals. Massages, restlyn, Botox, facials, teeth whitening, Pilates classes, body scrubs, laser hair removal, waxing, mini get always, etc! I always Yelp or google the places before to see if they are recommended. I just recently bought during their health and beauty extra 20% off 3 - 1 hour long sessions in a sensory deprivation floating chamber for 80 bucks!! I am scared/excited to try! It is supposed to help you center and relax. We shall see.

I'm nervous about using Groupon ads for cosmetic injectibles (Botox, Restylane, Juviderm, etc.) administered by random people without medical degrees of any kind who work in strip mall shops.

I'm OK with trying out a new hairdresser I've never used before. But NOT for cosmetic injectibles!

If you live in an urban area another good resource is schools, like massage schools, cosmetology schools, etc.

I hear you in that! I haven't tried injectables from there. In my area of the states there are actually Dr. Offices who do groupon as well. San Francisco is a very competitive market for that I guess!! Luckily (or not haha) my dr is actually in my work building!!

And i totally agree about massage schools!! You really get a lot for your money!!! And because they are learning they really try hard!!!

I guess at the end of the day, whether it is a massage or a new haircut or just a new bottle of nail polish or a magazine (I couldn't think of something small a guy may reward himself with).... We should all remember we are doing a great job and working this journey and we deserve to be treated!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
