Ok. I'm 1week post op today.. First day I woke up without pain, decided to try and clean a little.... After about 15 mins of cleaning, I'm out of breath. Feel like I've climbed 4-flights of stairs. So i have to sit and rest to catch breath...washing dishes didn't really bother me but sweeping takes my wind in mins.. Anyone experience this? am I moving too fast with the sweeping n moping?.. I'm still only on clear liquids!!

Definitely. You just had major surgery. While it is important to get up and walk a bit every hour or two, doing major household chores is not something you should be attempting. I was seriously so exhausted the first two weeks or so that it was hard to wash my hair!

Thank you, believe me I leaned the hard way(not to Mention my lil.lady is on now, and that's draining alone), when I finally caught my breath I laid down n slept for 2 hours..that's another thing I am just starting to sleep at night.. the first 6 nights I could not get comfortable, forbid I try to lay toward the tv on my left side...it's finally getting better. And boy am I glad. Thank you all for the support..I'm still in the secret phase only my husband and daughter knows I just had surgery ... I just wanted to get it done and heal before heading all the negatives...I probably won't tell, they'll have to figure it out,

I can truly believe it, this is something serious. I'm not used to depending on others, just glad discomfort n gas is minimal now...how far are you out now

I had a lifting restriction for the first 6 weeks - can't recall, but it was like 8 pounds or something. Think about it, vacuuming, ,mopping etc you are doing the equivelant of lifting quite bit more than that! one of the risks is adhesions which could give you issues in future ab surgeries.... so take it easy for a bit. Slow easy walks, no scrubbing floors and windows just yet!!! :)

It wore me out taking a shower the first couple of weeks. I was so glad to get dried off and put my belly band back on then sit or lay down and let the spasms stoo.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
