Ugh these protein shakes

Recommended Posts

They seem to go through me. Even tried making with lactaid milk today. Using whey. Tomorrow I get powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth delivered. I hope that is good?

Anyone else like this? I'm 13 days out.

Have you tried Premier Protein shakes pre made? I had the trouble you are having before my surgery and then switched to the Premier and things went ok. Hope you feel better soon. Have you tried different flavors? Wish I could help more. Just hang in there.

"liquid in, liquid out" is common if you are still on clear/full liquids. I agree with above posts that it might be worth trying a different brand than you have been using... but honestly, I had about 5 days of that issue when I started really adding the Protein drinks- but wasn't yet consuming any solids. I think it just happens sometimes when there aren't any solids to add any bulk.

Have you tried the Isopure Zero Carb Protein drinks? They have 40 grams of Protein per bottle and are fairly easy. No blending. I'm a month away from surgery and wanted to try different types of Protein Drinks.

I also suggest trying a different brand. Something is not agreeing with your belly.

However, do not let this condition go on too long. Diarrhea can lead to dehydration VERY easily and quickly. Dehydration is nasty stuff.

Maybe a call to your surgeon's office just for a recommendation and to keep them up to date about with your condition and progress. Can't hurt. I'm sure your experience is nothing new to your surgeon. (at least I hope you were not his first patient) :)

Feel better and let us know how you're doing.

The Isopure drinks are good. No problems. Hoping the chicken broth from Unjury will be good. Am I supposed to not drink 30 min before and after a Protein Drink?

I just asked my NUT this question and the answer is no. You can drink right up to the shake and right after.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
