Prior to surgery I was an avid member of my yoga studio practicing a couple days a week.

I am FAR from a super yogi and am nothing to write home about, but it was my form of exercise, my alone time without being alone plus I always felt amazing after 75 minutes of sweating in a +38 degree room.

Anyways....

I waited until my body was fully recovered before I hit the studio again.

I started going once a week attempted twice a week but I am finding even THAT quite difficult. I physically cannot hydrate myself enough during the day, so going to class will be the death of me.

I find myself weak, unable to hold any poses for half the time. I cannot seems to find my center and I loose all concentration and fall down.

I see spots, my sight goes blurry and I just want to lay down.

After re-reading this is sounds very "first world problem" of me but it is a struggle that I deal with every week, I don't want to quit the studio, but I also don't know WHY this is happening and what I can do to change how I practice in class. After class I usually feel like a million bucks, now I still feel like a million bucks but then I am so exhausted for the rest of the day that I dont have much energy.

Has anyone else had these type of issues with starting a new routine after surgery? Perhaps its the "hot" environment?

This is the one thing in my life that I enjoy doing for ME and the thought of loosing it sucks.

I would give up on the hot to be honest. I have a friend that is a super yogi type and told me that hot was a waste. I really wanted to get into hot, and they said it doesn't really do much for you.

If you try regular yoga and you are still struggling then maybe talk to your Dr.

Also maybe give it one more month. 6 month mark was a huge difference for me, even though I felt great before at 6 months I went to totally normal person mode. It is a definable shift I felt.

If you are having problems getting the hydration needed after surgery, then hot yoga is not only a bad idea but a dangerous one. Once you are getting 100 oz of Water a day, then revisit it.

I started three months post surgery and had no problem. But it's a grueling workout. To prepare I

  • Walked an hour a day for a month post surgery
  • Light weights and elliptical on month two
  • Heavier weights and running month three

Only after this did I try adding in hot yoga. Hope that helps.

I'm 7 weeks post op and I've walked everyday since being about 1 week post op. Last Wednesday I went to a step aerobic class....the first one I've been to in about 8 years....and I finished the step part of the class, but when they started the "sculpt" part of the class with weights, I got really dizzy and light headed and saw spots also. It really scared me.

I think I just tried too much too fast.

We just have to take it slow

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
