I had my surgery on February 16, 2016. I'm a little lost on what I can and can not eat at this point. I started this journey at 243lbs at 5'6 and I was down 20lbs at first weigh in.

I'm so happy I made this life changing decisions because I had to get healthy for myself and for my kids who are 10 and 3. I'm a handicapped mom with a supportive husband and I'm very lucky for that. I'd love to hear your experiences and how much weight should I expect to lose and in what time frame? Also maybe share some recipes with me? Your daily intake? I'm from New Jersey and would love a pal to have contact with please.

Everyone loses at a different rate, you seem to be a fairly fast loser. I was a slooooowwwwww loser. It took me a year and a half to get to goal. Some people only take 6 months it all depends on how much you want/need to lose, the exercise you're doing and your body. Just keep in mind once you pick up exercising the weight might slow down a bit if yo are building muscle, but you will see the inches fall off of you!

@@madeline121 - Welcome!

Everyone loses at a different rate so to tell you to expect to lose XX by two weeks and XX by the end of the month isn't practical.

What kind of surgery?

Search the BP website for recipes (there are threads with all kinds of good ideas).

Did you have a NUT? I would contact them and or your bariatric team for what they want you to eat at this point because not all doctors want you to eat pureed foods at 3 days (mine did) some want their patients on a two week liquid diet.

I eat at 10 months post around 1000 calories, 80 grams of Protein and I try to keep my carbs as low as possible (40 or so) along with over 64 oz of Water (usually around 100oz).

good luck and welcome again!

I had surgery VSG on 2/17. My surgeon gave me a "Phase 2" diet that includes mushy foods like apple sauce, yogurt, soft meats, and cottage cheese. I am supposed to introduce one or two of those per day so that I can learn what is comfortable and what isn't. He also stressed that I eat slowly so that I learn to recognize when I feel satisfied and then stop eating. Does your surgeon's office not have a nutritionist to guide you moving forward?

I had the sleeve on February 17 - I am just now starting soft foods - REFRIED Beans have never tasted sooooooooooooo good. :-) so, Beans, cheese, I can have fish but I don't care for it. anything kind of mushy in my mouth. but REAL food. I am full quickly which amazes me, and I stay feeling full. no problem for me waiting to eat a half hour - because I don't really want anything else for at least that long. I am still having one Protein shake per day just to boost my Protein intakes because I can't eat very much food.

I am down about 12 pounds and it feels excruciatingly slow, but I am in this for the long haul

Thank you so much for welcoming me! I do have a NUT but you all have or are going through it. I had the sleeve and hope I made the right choice. I am scheduled to see my NUT next week for my 1 month follow up.

I haven't tried Beans yet. I am on the "mushy" meal plan also. I've had eggs and didn't have any problems eating salmon either. When can you eat green vegetables or salad? That is not on my list at all.

for my plan a salad after a month *if* tolerated. hopefully I will tolerate it, because I do love a salad with baby spinach.

My doctor had me start with mushy after a 2 week liquid diet along with Up Cal which I mix in my shake and Bariatric Vitamins. These are both forever. Anyway, he also suggested mashed potatoes. They were amazing after not having any solids for so long. Also did everything you mentioned but the Beans. You can do it! Good luck with the spinach salad.< /p>

This is def a life changer. I look in the mirror and don't really see any weight loss I guess that's normal. Lol I am on two Protein shakes a day and bariatric Vitamins. My doctor actually carries them in his office. How much weight did you all lose month by month?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
