Ughhh ate too much today I just know it...

Recommended Posts

Ughhh okay so today has not been my best day... I don't know WTF is wrong with me I know I'm not actually hungry...

Quick backstory - Open RNY 03/2002 - revision via Endoscopic Soft Tissue Re-approximation to cinch stoma/pouch 02/09/16. I have been doing spot on fantastic the last 3 weeks and its like I lost my mind today. I'm on a soft modified diet meaning I should be introducing more solid foods as my pouch can manage it but I'm pretty scared to so I'm still eating mainly soft foods...

Breakfast - 10oz chocolate Caramel Protein Shake (33g protein) with FF lactose free milk

Snack - 1 Hershey dark chocolate sugar free miniature

Bottle of Water 16.9oz

lunch - Ricotta Bake Mexican style (19g protein)

Bottle of water 16.9oz

Snack - Oikos triple zero banana cream Greek yogurt (15g protein)

ANOTHER snack and I don't know why but I inhaled a Pure Protein Bar (20g protein)

I have dinner prepped its a 1/3c portion of blended "Shepard's pie" kind of - just the beef, gravy & edamame (whirled in the blender a little) that I'll cover with cheese instead of mashed potatoes (26g protein).

If I eat the dinner I'm sitting @ 1,063 calories 113g Protein, 75 carbs 37 fat & 27 sugar.

You'd think with all this protein I'd be stuffed - maybe I shouldn't have dinner and just drink a ton of water? Any advice?

I guess you need to ask yourself are you hungry? Really?

Or are you simply falling into old behaviors. Trust me, I have to do this every single day many times a day.

Your carbs are quite high given you just had surgery and are in the weight loss phase.

As far as eating dinner, you should not skip meals but maybe starting tomorrow focus on reducing Snacks or choosing a snack that will stick with you longer. sugar free chocolate is not a good option. It won't kill you but there are choices that will keep you fuller longer.

I had to stop eating yogurt because for me it is a slider food and I am hungry again pretty quickly. I will usually snack on cottage cheese or chicken salad or lunch meat and cheese. Those tend to stay with me longer.

Also I noticed that Protein bars that have Peanut Butter in them stay with me for a very long time.

I am 16 1/2 months post-op and don't eat that much in a day. I agree with the advice already given, ask yourself if you are really hungry or if it is stress or head hunger. Good for you for identifying that it is a problem and hopefully you will be able to grow from it!

Don't beat yourself up, it happens. You know that you ate way to much, so don't let it happen again. Along with the advice given, I noticed that you only had 43.8 ounces of Fluid. That is of course way low on any given day, but when you ask yourself if you are truly hungry and the answer is yes, drink some Water.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
