Hi all, I am new here. I'm Reanna, a 23 year old Chicagoan.

I am a post op sleever and have been experiencing some frustration. I had my surgery about 3 months ago, and up until last month was losing weight pretty well both before and after the surgery. Now for the past month my weight has been stalled and I can't figure out why. I eat about 1200 calories a day and do vigorous cardio 5 times a week, and I use my bowflex home gym 3 times a week, plus some walking around the neighborhood or on my treadmill. I track everything I eat down to the gram and never leave out small tastes or little Snacks. I feel better than I have in a long time with plenty of energy and my workouts are going up in intensity at a relatively regular rate without causing any pain or stress. I just can't lose weight :/

My nutritionist said that my calories per day were just about right, and I get a lot of Protein every day, usually above 80 grams, often around 100. I eat almost every 2 hours because for some reason since the day after surgery I am constantly hungry. Once I eat I feel sated for about 30 minutes, and then I am hungry again, so it can be really tough for me, and I was dealing with it pretty well while I was losing, figuring that the hunger would go away, but now I am just constantly hungry and not losing... I have a body monitoring scale that says my RMR is about 1800, which seems to indicate that my body needs more calories, but many people on this forum and others eat 500-700 calories and continue losing.

I have had a few shorter stalls before, most lasting for about a week or so, and then my weight began quickly coming off again, but a month seems like quite a while. Should I keep being patient, maybe try eating more or less? Have any of you folks experienced anything similar? Thanks for your input everyone, and I hope your days are going well.

My first thought on the hunger issue, is to ask if you take a PPI? If I don't take a Prilosec I feel hungry all day. Stomach acid can mimick the feelings of hunger, it is a fairly common issue.

I did take prilosec for the first month post op, but my acid reflux was well under control before hand and I have not had any symptoms (sore throat, acid taste, nausea, heart burn) that I used to get. During the month that I took the prilosec my hunger did not get any better and in fact slowly got worse as my stomach healed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
