I'm currently 10 days post op and feeling great. My doctor instructed to wait to move to phase 2 of my diet on day 14. I'm so temped to slowly introduced puréed foods into my diet early. Not only do I want to chew things but I was thinking it might be a smoother transition doing it slowly. Any suggestions? How early did you start phase 2?

I did slowly transitions too, but I did it by delaying my stages rather than speeding them up. I was on liquids for 18 days, purees until 28 days, then soft food until 42 days. At 18 days I continued liquids and just ate a couple tablespoons of pureed food each day. By soft food stage I was still 1/2 liquids and 1/2 pureed. I only added one new soft food every few days. I was a combo of liquid, pureed and soft food by 42 days. It took me closer to 3 months to transition to full regular food. I never had nausea or got sick or anything. In fact, I felt great, too. I was back working 10 hour shifts at just 7 days postop. I just chose to go super slow to help prevent complications and give my sleeve plenty of time to heal.

I started when my doctor told me to . . . I did not fall into the trap of thinking I could make better medical and eating decisions than they could.

For me I was Clear Liquids first 2 days then full liquids (phase 2) for 14 days. But this phase I can have pureeds as long as it loose enough to be sucked through straw (but can't use straw). They do have us transitioning to the next phase. Day 10 we slowly start then by day 14 I am full soft food phase.

I did the phases gradual per by Drs orders. In fact today is day 40 and I'm allowed full meals. But I'm still doing mostly soft foods and bringing in more as I adjust. Biggest thing for me is getting the Protein in. Focusing on those first

I stayed Protein shakes only for the first 4 weeks.

I wanted to make sure that puppy was healed and ready. I also was enjoying the rate the scale was moving.

Figured I have the rest of my life to eat.......but wanted to take my time and heal properly.

That's a very good way to look at it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
