Daisy Girl 38 Posted February 28, 2016 I am 8 months out from my sleeve surgery and have had two really bad gallbladder attacks (at least from what I've read they are textbook gall bladder attacks). I know this is common with large weight loss. I lost 80 pounds and made goal in January. The first one scared me but the second one was worse. Luckily by the time I realized that I needed to get to a hospital, the pain subsided. I did so well with my WLS, hardly had any pain at all, but I'm not looking forward to this. I am going to Doctor this week. Anyone else have to go through this? Is the surgery/healing process similar to the sleeve surgery?
Support Sisters 19 Posted February 28, 2016 Yes similar! You will be fine. I had mine out after I lost weight years ago. It happens, take care of it. Only negative will be limits to your exercise post surgery but you will be back to normal eventually!
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted February 28, 2016 No biggie! I had my first gall bladder attack ever 10 days after my sleeve surgery. I had my gall bladder removed (by my bariatric surgeon -- love him!) 4 weeks post-VSG surgery. It set me back max a week, but was very easy to recover from. I've had zero complications or difficulties in any way since my GB was removed. I hope yours goes just as well.
