Question (a bit TMI!)

Recommended Posts

Since returning home from getting banded and being on liquids, my urine hasn't been a yellow, but more of an orange color. Is this due to the weight loss? Anyone know?

I'm sorry Bloo. I'm not sure what could be causing this. Maybe it was s'thing (one of the meds) given to you in the hospital??? I would just call my doc and ask...just to be on the safe side.

You probably need to drink more, if your urine is more concentrated and therefore a darker colour, you're getting a bit dehydrated.

I also agree w/the others about drinking more Water. I know that if I'm not drinking enough, my urine will be a bit darker yellow, but never orange. It's usually pretty light yellow to almost clear (talk about TMI). I've just never seen orange before. That's what made me think it was a med or s'thing.

Let us know what the doc says. I'm curious.

make sure and drink enough, I didn't and ended up in the hospital with kidney stones for 9 days, 4 days first time and 5 days 2nd time in December. I finally passed them, one was 5 mm. and it was a doozey. They told me banded patients have them more because they tend to not want to drink as much.

Oh - one more thing. For me, dark yellow urine was a sure sign I was pregnant, lol. Its the first thing I noticed all 3 times.

I'm with you on the pregnancy thing. First thing I noticed every time was orange pee. Dr. also told me to be careful because pregnancy after weight loss is very common. I laughed, as all of my children are IVF.

Did you have a barium swallow? I noted that the stuff I swallowed (besides being awful tasting) was orange. Maybe that attributed to a more orange tint. For the first couple of times right after surgery I noted a darker color but attributed it to not having enough Water and the medications as many here have already suggested.

Let me tell you that since I have gotten into the habit of monitoring my fluids and making sure I get my 64 ounces each day, urine is no longer dark and bowel movements are more normal / regular.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
