I'm 7 weeks pre op and have been doing really well with 1200 calories, chewing slowly, small portions, and exercise. I've even lost 10 lbs, (the amount required of me). Today, however, I was hungry aaaallllll day and my healthy food and small portions weren't cutting it. I ate A LOT of food from McDonalds and feel sick and guilty :(.

Now I'm second guessing if I should get the surgery. What if I do this to myself after the surgery? What if I don't have the will power? On the other hand, I didn't eat much in the morning, and that could be why I went a bit crazy... I don't know.

I will be having the psychological exam, and will definitely talk about this. Has this happened to anyone else? Is so, did you have success after the sleeve? I'd be interested to see what post-op sleevers think.

Thanks,

Feeling guilty

Feeling sick after eating at McD is normal, no? Nasty prefabricated, processed poison with the right amount of salt, fat and carbs calculated perfectly to create an addiction to it as it slowly kills you.

One day does not a diet make- or break. Get back on the diet today and problem solved. As to after the surgery, if you go, only order a small cheeseburger or a couple nuggets because the rest will go in the trash...and then get ready to puke shortly after eating it.

Everyone has moments of weakness, but you shouldn't let them derail you. Please remember that you are modifying years of behavior and that will not be a perfect, linear process. You have to cut yourself some slack and realize its not the fact that you slip up that matters, but how you get back on track. Just start up your diet today and next time you want to binge, remember how you felt.

McD has always made ne feel sick. I think the right way to think about your experience is to ask yourself "if I am insatiable hungry again, what can I do differently? " guilt is useless, turn this into a way to practice picking yourself up and keeping going...only you have learned something here!

The only way you maintain over the long haul is to become skilled at "just keep doing what works" and to learn from but not be tortured by mistakes.

Please do not doubt the choice to have this surgery because of a moment of weakness. We all had many moments of weakness over the years before surgery. Here is what will change after surgery, you will begin to loose weight and feel better, your health will improve, you will want to keep doing better. Here is what happened to me when I gave in and ate something that wasn't healthy for me , like a burger at McDonalds- it made me feel really horrible- not mentally because I failed, but physically because it made me feel unwell. This is a great deterrent to not do it again.

The good news is, post-op, more than two bites of McDonald's will make you feel sick, so you won't be doing that often!

It was a mistake, learn from it and move on. Please don't feel guilty, we have all done stuff we don't feel good about once the 'desperation for food mist' has lifted. Just know youre heading the right way and each minute is a fresh start.

You CAN do it !!

Mine is a mental thing. When I was overweight and had a "slip" I felt so defeated. I would ultimately think, what the hell, and eat again. I was already 100 lbs overweight and things looked so hopeless from my perspective, that I'd just fall back into the pit. Now, with a 70% of goal weight loss, I don't feel so overwhelmed. I can get back on track much easier. WLS is the best coping tool I've ever had for weight loss.

Don't kick yourself see it as a good bye to McDonald. I had a fish sandwich on my clear diet pre op! I had the surgery in May 2014. Lost 135 lbs and I am healthy. I went from 8 pills a day to 1 plus Vitamins. You will question it as you are getting on the table! I did but as I put on my size 12 pants I thank god for the tool. I was a 28. Don't keep the fat wall come walk in the sun !

I just had WLS on the 9th and I am doing the clear liquid. I was on and off clear liquid for 6 months prior to my surgery and every time I cheated (which was often) I would feel the same way. I feel like something in my brain clicked after surgery (at least so far). I have not cheated once since my surgery and have been doing clear liquid for 25 days (pre and post op combined). I was getting a scoop of PB for my son the other day and got some on my finger and I almost licked it off but I didn't!!! I wiped it off on a napkin. It might seem silly but I was so proud of myself. I'm sitting at my 2 weeks post op appt right now and I've lost 15 lbs since my surgery for a total of 45. We all mess up, but just get back on course. You can do this!!!!! I think probably everyone had the same doubts as you before surgery but look how many success stories you see on here!!! Good luck!!! :)

You feel bad about it and this will help you to get back on track and do what you need to do. If we were all perfect there wouldn't need to be a thing called WLS. It's a new day, move on & learn something from it.

Thanks for the support, everyone. I got back on track the following day and am feeling better now. I definitely didn't drink enough Water that day, and I didn't eat enough early in the day, AND it was that time of the month, so I think all of those factors contributed to the binge.

I really want to be successful and have the surgery. It is going to take time to erase old behaviors, but I think I can do it.

I feel for you. I am 2 months into my 3 month preop process and was doing great. I totally flubbed it. So disappointed in myself. This is so hard.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
