AKessler731 2 Posted February 26, 2016 I wasn't sure if I'd get approval or not but I did. Thank God! When should you take "before" pictures? The day of surgery? Before starting the 2 week diet?
JKBtx 28 Posted February 26, 2016 I am so worried about actually getting insurance approval. I am 229 lbs and have been on the fist diet plan of low carbs and after hearing what has to be done for the pre op diet and no EATTING for weeks after just worries me.... Idk .. I am also worried I will opt out after reading so many not so good stories like vomiting a lot and stuff... I had spinal fusion done in December, if I threw up that would hurt me so bad! By chance is anyone else nervous about what to do? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
Susan66 128 Posted February 27, 2016 I didn't take any before pictures or take body measurements.

Some are more strict than others and some don't require anything but Clear liquids the day before. I had a 2 week pre-op diet of 2 daily meals replaced with a Protein drink and one meal of 3oz lean Protein, 1c of a non starchy vegetable & a small salad. In all honesty it wasn't that bad at all. You will need to adapt to a whole new food lifestyle after surgery, so you might as well start now. As far as vomiting goes, I have never had to since surgery. My surgery went smooth with no complications during or after surgery. I can understand your worries. May I suggest you go to every pre-op education class or support group that your weight loss program offers prior to your surgery date. The more informed you are and understand the whole process the more confident you will be in your decision.
sassyfrass23 525 Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) I'm going to take before pictures prior to my 2 week liquid diet which begins March 15th. I dread it...but I know I will need great "before" photos to help me on the days when I don't feel like I've made much improvement but I really have. It's become very obvious to me that people who have WLS typically have a much more difficult time seeing a physical difference. So, I am going to rely on those quite a bit. Nurse_Lenora 903 Posted February 27, 2016 I took pics the day I first met my surgeon, when I started liquid diet and day before surgery. It's great motivation to look back at them now 40 lbs later. Lots of pics I say!!
