Financing Gastric Sleeve (Self-Pay, not thru insurance)

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I'm in the beginning stages of soon becoming a sleever. I will not be going to the insurance route since the plan I'm under AvMed (Florida) doesn't cover Bariatric. I will have to finance my gastric sleeve, which is fine by me. I was wondering other than CareCredit which other creditors have you guys come through? CareCredit is around 12.99% APR which quite high.

Why not get a 0% APR Credit card? That would be the best way to finance if you can pay it off in a year.

This isn't an option for everyone, but my retirement account allows me to borrow against it without paying any fees or penalties and I am basically paying myself back most of the interest. If you have a retirement account, you should call and ask if that's a possibility.

I took a cash advance from my credit card at 9.5% interest and I am trying to pay off ASAP. I was self pay - $12,000.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
