Good idea ISGirl. I am pre-op, 6weeks to go but I realised that I need to dispose of the emotional baggage that has me overeating in the first place. I tried gastric balloon and lost 40kgs but due to private stress eventually put it all back on. Heading for a sleeve I dont want this to fail because then I am stuffed. Seeing a psychologist for 10 subsidised visits, nothing startling so far, and started meditation classes, which i love and joining occassional 2 hour seminars at local 'feel good' organisation. I feel i have to throw everything at this chance to make it work, notwithstanding diet and exercise. People talk about a hormone imbalance post WLS leading to some depression. Does anyone know more about this please?

I know from experience dieting pre-op and from post-op experience that when I start losing a lot of weight fast my hormones go wacky. My understanding it is because of the fast release of all the hormones that are stored in our fat.

You should stabilize but definitely talk to your doctor or psychologist if you are having trouble managing.

It is so good to hear that you are taking care of your emotional and mental health.

I'd love to hear more about the classes you are taking.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
