I've been stalled a month please help!

Recommended Posts

You all are experiencing stalls many months outs after losing many many pounds. Is this your first stall? Did you all have any preop diets you had to follow? What about those of us who are experiencing stalls 10 days after surgery. Surgery was Jan 26th 10 days later I was 20 pounds down. In the last 18 days I have lost only 1 pound. This doesn't seem to make any sense. Yes I have read the thread "Embrace the Stall". I am happy with the 21 pounds gone but to be in a stall so soon is discouraging.

Almost everyone experiences their first stall about three weeks after surgery.

You just can't let stalls and the numbers on the scale discourage you. They happen and are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process.

Embrace the Stall!

I was stalled for a month also and was doing everything right. What did help me was to eat more of my Protein from actual fish or chicken & to back off on the Protein Drinks.

When I did this the scale moved in about 3 days. I will admit, I remember dreading a liquid diet during the pre-op stage. But after a while you get used to it & realize it's so much easier to grab a Protein Drink & go. Now I'm back to planning what I need to cook.

Hi Susan I love the Protein Shakes because it's easier to get all of my protein in that way. As for fish I only like it fried baked is just not good to me. And I'm completely burned out on chicken. I'm just lost right now.

Do you have myfitnesspal? I really suggest using it for about a week, see where you're at and if you can find anything that You should improve on (getting more protein/water/calories/less carbs). Do you have easy access to your nutritionist? When I was in my stall, I sent all of my logs on myfitnesspal to my nutritionist to have her look over them and give me her assessment. Naturally, she said I needed more Protein. Either way, it's a good idea to really try and utilize the nutritionist as much as possible.

Also, GENEPRO Protein Powder has 30g per 1 tablespoon - it's amazing! Amazon has it. Check it out, it may help you more than you realize.

I would suggest you use MyFitnessPal or another tracker (or just a pen and paper) to track your food every day and not just for a week. Without tracking how would you know whether or not you are reaching your Protein targets? I can't accurately remember what I did 10 minutes ago let alone what ate 3 hours ago.

Tracking my food is one of my biggest critical success factors. Without tracking, I wouldn't have accurate information to help me make any decisions or adjustments. I would just be guessing.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
