Advice On My First Meal (Solids)

Recommended Posts

I am coming up on a month since banding and ready to graduate from the liquids only phase to my mushy solid foods stage. I have a list of recommended foods from the nutritionist, but was wondering what other lapbanders (is that what we are now?:)) ate when you transitioned?

Just a hint of how I may go. I have been craving egg salad finely chopped with low fat mayo. Do I dare try it with crackers or just stick with it plain?

I wouldn't suggest crackers yet, but that's just my opinion. With that said, my first soft solid food was baked talapia and mashed potatoes. That was the best fish I've ever eaten! :)

You have to add back foods slowly. You really won't know what you can tolerate until you try them. Some people do fine with bread, I can't eat it. Others can't have chicken, doesn't bother me at all

So back to your question. Maybe try it with crispbread or whole grain toast (more healthy) but only take a little bit and see how you do. You might be fine, you might get stuck, you might PB. It's just really hard to say. You do have to sort of "take a leap of faith" when you start eating again. You'll learn quickly what you can tolerate.

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
