When oh when, will I be able to sip on some pickle juice!

I know I have had some crazy cravings running around my head since before surgery, but I have never gone this long, seven weeks now, in my life w/o my beloved pickled things.

I am on week four post op. I'd imagine it's still just too acidic. Is it? I'm calling tomorrow. I dream about my pickles! *cry* PICKLES!! I MISS YOU!! I LOVE YOU!! COME BACK TO ME!!

I have an answer. lol

I called my nutritionist. I'm not even awake yet! Haha.

I asked her if I could try sipping the juice of my beloved kraut and pickles, by "Bubbies". You've GOT to try "Bubbies"! Local Whole Foods! And the kraut made in Austin Texas. The kraut will be in black bags right next to the Bubbies kraut and pickles. The Bubbies bread n butter pickles are not fermented, and as you know have sugar. Nope.

So she said yes! I can try it and see how I react. But to just take it slow and see how it feels in my stomach.

My worry stems from a constant awareness and sensation of my healing stomach. I asked if that was that normal, she said yes, for now most people are still 'aware' of their sleeves and can "feel" their sleeves. I am just worried if it might feel like drinking battery acid. Of course I won't drink it like Water. I just want some sips.

OK

After taking my newest little Boston Terrier Rescue to the Vet today, I'll bring her back, tuck her in, put on her Princess jammies and got get some Bubbies!!

WOO!

Wow what a coincidence, the pickle I had yesterday was a Bubbies pickle! Lol was very good and was my first time trying it.

mine had nothing about pickles or acidic foods in my packet so last week i tried it. i got a pickle spear and just ate a bite and chewed really well. when it went down just fine the next day i tried a couple of bites. after a few days i was able to eat most of a pickle spear! woot. i am 4 weeks out today by the way so hopefully it will work for you. i had no issues with it going down well or with reflux. i am just trying not to eat too many of them since they really have no nutritional value to them!

I promise to eat my Protein first!

If you love pickles, you are going to be happy to know that any "fermented" pickle does have nutritional value, the fermenting process creates Vitamins, especially Vitamin C! Look at some vlogs on Youtube or some books by Sandor Katz. He is my Fermenting Guru! Now, the standard modern-day pickle, yep, no real value nutritionally, except for the potassium and trace magnesium. That is why athletes will suck on frozen pickle juice popsicles during a football game or whatever they're playing. =)

Also, this might inspire you to make your own kraut! <3 The juice of that as well as fermented Pickle Juice is exquisite! Also, because I have been cleared to sip this now, I am alas regular! It's more powerful than the 55$ bottle of Probiotics I have in the fridge. GRR , lol. "Bubbies" is a fermented pickle full of lactobacillus and of course Vitamin C, if you don't want to make them yourself.

The thing that prevented Pirates from having scurvy : Simple, fermented sauerkraut played an important role in helping prevent scurvy — an affliction known in its day as the scourge of the seas, responsible for an estimated two million deaths between 1500 and 1800 — on sailing ships around the world.

Two words. Dirty Martini.

But not for you. YET.

Everything pickled will still be around in a few months, promise. Unless I eat it all first. :D

*swoon* <3

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
