Hi all,

I have been using the patch MD Multivitamin for the last five months. I had routine blood work done last Friday and my doctor just called to tell me that everything looks good except my Vitamin B12. My B12 was low so she wants me to start a 500mg daily regimen. It's odd because the Patch MD multivitamin claims to have 1000mcg of B12, which is 16,667% of the daily value. Perhaps it really doesn't have that much or maybe it's just not absorbed through the skin. Anyway, I just wanted to give an update since I've seen a lot of people ask about the Patches.< /p>

This is the one I've been using

Does the patch help with nausea? I can't take my Vitamins because they are making me puke and I am 6 days post op so all I can have is liquids. Even the yogurt, milk and thick Protein Shakes aren't enough for my belly to prevent nausea. I even tried grinding the vitamins into my shakes but its not helping.

You might try some ginger tea for nausea, like the Ginger Aid from Traditional Medicinals

I wouldn't say the patch actually helps with nausea but it certainly doesn't cause nausea like a Vitamin capsule or tablet might. I went with the Patches because the chewables were absolutely making me gag and get nauseous. Even when I was able to progress to the tablets, they're all too big for me to swallow. The Patches have been a great alternative for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
