I fit in some capris that were too tight the Saturday before, wore them to church and froze.

I went shopping at stores I would have *never* been comfortable shopping at preop, or even capable of fitting in their clothes.

Paid ridiculously for a pair of size 8/10 jeans because i could. lol

I did the same thing, and instead of looking at an XL, I was actually looking for a medium, blouse did run a little big, but who cares. Sometimes I cannot believe it, l am almost 7 months out and my head still has not caught up with the body.

There was a tiny spot on a bench seat on the train today. I was able to easily fit my little butt in there. It was easily half the size of any gap I would attempt to sit in pre surgery.

Why are my NSVs always about using public transport???

There was a period of 3-4 months last year where I couldn't put on my own socks and shoes.

I had herniated a disc trying to lift stuff I had no business lifting....and used poor technique and was grossly out of shape.....pre-op. That injury and the pain that came from it was the final straw for me getting serious about weight loss and scheduling my sleeve surgery.

Post-op healing....back to work.....still needed help to finished getting dressed for work every day. That bending while putting on my shoes was a trigger for the stabbing back pain.

Surgery was in October 2015.

This socks and shoe assistance bidness continued into December.....until I was finally able to sit on the edge of the bed and do it all by myself....like a big boy. Always seated on the bed, though. Only way I could.

Well.....worked a 14 hour shift last night....stopped at the tanning salon on my way home (I know, right? Sasquatch looking dude in a tanning salon....WTH?).......stripped down and tanned......dressed......simply put my socks and shoes on while standing up.

Walked out of there grinning......and squinting like hell......seems I'd wiped some lotion in my eyes at some point.

As far as my reasons for tanning.......I've got a cruise coming up in several weeks and I don't want to get fried then.

We went to marshall's to find my husband a shirt. I wandered over to the women's section and was just looking around when I came across the swim suit section. Right in from of my face was a monokini (I had been looking into them). The two sizes in front were a 6 and an 8. I tried both on and the 6 fit the best but my boobs are still larger than "average." But the point is I was able to find something without having to dig or search and it was a great feeling.

OMG! Can I just say how glad I am this hasn't been a problem for me? You poor thing! Might a different sports bra make a difference?

I think the problem is that I need to wear two sports bras and that cuts down on the moisture wicking aspect of the material.

Thanks for that. I read the whole thing and didn't really find a solution to my problem. It basically suggests in the end that you might have to double-up on compression bras, which is what I do. I will definitely try some anti-chafing creams or whatnot moving forward.

I hear the tape trick works. I use body glide elsewhere on occasion.

Is your bra moisture wicking? That helps. And making sure it fits properly (tight enough) so your nipples don't move against the fabric. I use moving comfort (Juno or rebound racer) or shock absorber run bra. There's no friction because they don't move at all!

I have a Moving Comfort Juno bra and I hate it. It's so stiff and bulky. Plus now it's a little too large on me. The compression bras that I'm doubling up on now are moisture wicking, but I think the fact that I'm doubling up means the one on the inside isn't able to wick effectively. I don't FEEL it rubbing at all as I run, but after my long run on Saturday, there was definite nipple chafing on my right breast, so I will need to figure out how to prevent that moving forward. I put Neosporin and gauze on it the rest of the day Saturday and well into Sunday and it feels better now at least. My short run last night only seemed to irritate it a tiny bit, nothing near as bad as Saturday.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
