I will try the kale chips; we like kale at home in a chicken recipe my husband makes, and it's' not bad at all!

I don't think it hurts because I am full. At first I did hurt myself from overating because I was gauging it all. Now I eat 3 to 4 oz of Protein and 1 to 2 oz of a side dish and I can feel the difference between the pain I am describing and pain fro being full. Different pains. So I am waiting to see if it goes away. Example, right now it is 9:35, I have eaten nothing and I have that pain.

My Dr. said that I may be eating too fast, so he suggested slowing down. He did say that if the pain continues for a week, to give them a call. My main concern now is staple line leakage because I am also experiencing nausea; we will see :)

Keep us posted! My surgeon doesn't do a leak test. He thinks the nausea caused by the stuff you swallow is worse than (according to the physician's assistant who gave me this stat) the 1% of his patients who've had leaks. Anyway odds lean towards too fast eating and not the leak. Crossing my fingers for you!

At three months it's mighty unlikely that you have a leak. If you had a leak, you would be leaking stomach contents into your abdomen, with a resulting infection. You're healed by a month afterwards that leaks are a miniscule risk, and you're at three months. I hope that eases your mind, not that you shouldn't keep following up on your pain!

At my personal support group we talked about leaks and someone there had one past 3 months; it does occur mainly because the healing process is different for each person. I do not believe is a leak because I would have a fever and other symptoms that go with a leak. I am waiting until Wednesday because the pain has continued with every bite of everything other than yogurt, and at this stage, eating just yogurt is not appealing! LOL.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
